Alma Park Zoo

It has been two years since Alma Park Zoo at Dakabin was closed. But the animals are still alive and well.

Alma Park Zoo, which was in operation for over 40 years, has closed its doors. The land was then sold to make way for housing and development.

The animal’s future was uncertain after the sale of the land. However, zookeepers wanted to keep them together.

Jarrod Schenk, a former employee of Alma Park Zoo and the CEO of WildlifeHQ Zoo Zoo Jarrod Schenk, said they found a small petting area at the Big Pineapple on the Sunshine Coast.

After they had built brand new facilities, they set about the daunting task of moving 200 animals into their new homes.

He stated, “We wanted the whole collection to be together to minimize stress on the animals.”

“It took two months to move all the animals. Our sun bear, Maly, had to be trained to use honey to get into the crate to move her.

According to Mr Schenk, the move was successful and produced excellent breeding results. This included Marmoset monkey twins, who were born last week.

He said, “We would love it if people remembered the animals from Alma zoo could see how they are doing in their new homes.”

“WildlifeHQ zoo does not serve as a temporary facility for animals in Alma. The keepers have dedicated their lives to building this Zoo, and it will be there forever.”

The unique thing about our Zoo is that it was designed specifically for the animals by the zookeepers. Keepers who worked directly with animals had full control over the location and design of new exhibits.
