NEW KOALA SCHOOL EDUCATION PROGRAM LAUNCHED AT ALMA PARK ZOO

With only 1600 koala's left in Brisbane's northern areas and with some of these areas listed as extinct, the plight of the Koala has never been more pressing.

Alma Park Zoo has developed a new education program in conjunction with the Australian Koala Foundation and Wallum Wholesale Nurseries for primary schools to assist in the education and awareness of this Australian Icon.

Koala breeding program and education programs in full swing at Alma Park Zoo.

Alma Park Zoo has welcomed another baby joey - Tallow is now 8 months old and is venturing out of mum (Matilda's) pouch and saying hello to all our guests at the Zoo.

Saving a Species - Cotton-top tamarin breeding program

Late last year Brisbane's Alma Park Zoo announced the first birth of a Hamadryas Baboon in Australia for 4 years and we are now pleased to announce another arrival.

"Kamilah" was born on 15th January 2010.

Today, Raya, Alma Park Zoo's endangered Sun Bear enjoyed an early visit from Santa with presents filled with Salmon, pine cones treated with honey and all things nice, even some tinsel ensured that Raya is enjoying the Christmas spirit.

With our White Boomers already arrived, baby Deer also waiting to see Rudolph, it is a very Merry Christmas at Brisbane's Alma Park Zoo.
