With only 1600 koala's left in Brisbane's northern areas and with some of these areas listed as extinct, the plight of the Koala has never been more pressing.

Alma Park Zoo has welcomed another baby joey - Tallow is now 8 months old and is venturing out of mum (Matilda's) pouch and saying hello to all our guests at the Zoo.  Click here for full details

We are proud to announce the birth of twins (27/4/2010)

At eight days old the twins are approximately 5cm long and putting on weight nicely.  The twins spend majoirty of their day riding on Dad's back and transfer to Mum only to feed.

ANOTHER NEW SPECIES FOR ALMA PARK ZOO -  Blackbuck Antelope

Blackbuck are one of the fastest land animals in the world, clocking speeds of over 80km/hour!

 

 


black-capped_capuchin.jpgNEWEST PRIMATE SPECIES - BLACK-CAPPED CAPUCHIN

Alma Park Zoo has welcomed another primate species - Black-capped Capuchin.  Capuchin monkeys are a highly social "New World" primate, native to South America.  Alma Park Zoo's primate family now consists of 6 different species of both new and old world monkeys including Hamadryas Baboon, Ring-tailed Lemur, the endangered Cotton-top Tamarins, Marmosets, Squirrel Monkeys and of course our newest arrival Black-Capped Capuchins.

Late last year Alma Park Zoo announced the first birth of a Hamadryas Baboon and we are now pleased to announce another arrival.  Kamilah, born 15th January 2010.  Photo is Kamilah not long after birth and yet to find her feet.

Alma Park Zoo is proud to announce the recent birth of a Hamadryas baboon (born 16 November 2009) The female baby has been named "Layla".

Alma Park Zoo is proud to announce the arrival of 2 Red Panda

These two seriously cute Red Panda now call Alma Park Zoo home with a newly built exhibit to depict their natural habitat of China.  As part of ARAZPA and the international conservation program Alma Park Zoo has developed their new home.

Alma Park Zoo is proud to announce the arrival of Green Iguana.  We have constructed a purpose built Vivarium which is a climate and humidity controlled environment.  The Green Iguana originates from Central and South America, from Mecico to southern Brazil and the Caribbean Islands.

LEMUR ISLAND - NOW OPEN

Alma Park Zoo is the first Zoo in Queensland to exhibit this threatened species and is proud to announce the addition of 5 Ring-tailed Lemur.

A dedicated Island sanctuary has been constructed in the middle of our lake and is the new home for these elegant and entertaining animals.

 


Alpacas

Two new Baby Alpaca have joined the Alma Park Zoo family. 

 

 

 

 

 

 


OwlsTwo stunning Barn Owls have also arrived.  We are looking forward to them producing some offspring.
