Red Panda join the Alma Park Zoo family

red_panda_at_alma_park_zoo.jpgAlma Park Zoo is proud to announce the arrival of 2 Red Panda.

These two seriously cute Red Panda now call Alma Park Zoo home with a newly built exhibit to depict their natural habitat of China.

As part of ARAZPA and the international conservation program Alma Park Zoo has developed their new home.

The Red Panda are listed as vulnerable to extinction and all remaining free-ranging ppulations are fully protected.  At present there are no reliable estimates of numbers remaining in the wild.

General Manager Garry Connnell says "As Alma Park Zoo moves forward we are pleased to be a part of Australian and International conservation organisations in building awareness and educating people in the plight of our worlds beautiful creatures"

Did you know? The Red Panda shares characteristics of racoons and bears but is actually in a unique family all of its own - the Ailuridae.
