Alma Animals
Alma Park Zoo is home to over 200 individual mammals, reptiles, birds, amphibians and crocodilians representing approximately 100 species. Many of the animals are exotic species from South America, Asia, Africa and of course Australian Native Animals.
Alma is Queensland’s oldest Zoo and also one of the only Zoos where you will see and interact with a broad range of primates.
Monkeys and Lemurs.
If you love primates, you will love Alma Park Zoo! The primates on exhibit at Alma include:
- Baboons
- Black Capped Capuchins
- Common Marmoset
- Pygmy Marmoset
- Cotton Top Tamarin
- Emperor Tamarin
- Ring Tailed Lemur
Guests to Alma also have the opportunity to get up close and personal with our Ring Tailed Lemurs and Marmosets.
Asian Animals
Alma Park Zoo is home to four species of vulnerable or endangered Asian Animals that include:
- Sunbear
- Red Panda
- Binturong (Asian Bearcat)
- Indian Blackbuck Antelope
- Himalayan Tahr
Maly, our Sunbear was the first Sunbear to be born in captivity in Australia and the only Sunbear in Queensland. Recently the Zoo welcomed the addition of baby Tahrs and Blackbucks. They always delight our guests with their antics!
South American Animals.
Spider Monkeys, Black Capuchins, Tamarins and Marmosets are all South American primates. However, Alma Park Zoo is also home to:
- Lowland Tapir
- Alpacas
- Greater Rheas.
Alf, the Lowland Tapir is the only Tapir in Queensland.
Australian Native Animals
Many Australian native animals can be found at Alma Park Zoo including:
- Dingo
- Bennetts or Rednecked Wallaby
- Swamp Wallaby
- Parma Wallaby
- Red Kangaroo & Eastern Grey Kangaroo
- Emu
- Northern & Southern Koalas
- Possum
- Eastern Quolls
- Tasmanian Devil
- Flying Fox
- Echidna
- Cockatoo, Corella, Galah & Barn Owl.
Our guests have the opportunity to get up close and personal with kangaroos, wallabies and koalas. Alma Park Zoo is also one of the only Zoos that provide close encounters with Eastern Quolls.
Reptiles, Amphibians & Crocodilians
Alma Park Zoo have a large number of scaly creatures from all over the world that include:
- Red Tailed Boa Constrictor
- Brendl, Carpet, Olive, Woma and Black Headed Pythons
- Corn Snakes
- Burmese Python
- Blue Tongue & Shingleback Lizards
- Water Dragons (free roaming)
- Magnificent and Dainty Tree Frogs
- Boyds Forest Dragon
- Freshwater Crocodile
- Alligator
Guests to the Zoo have an opportunity to meet the snakes, crocodile and alligator for a souvenir photo to take home!
Friendship Farm
Friendship Farm is particularly suited to smaller children. The animals of friendship farm include:
- Goats
- Sheep / Lambs
- Miniature Horses
- Calves
- Chickens
- Guinea Pigs
